Police honour PUNCH reporter in Niger

Enyioha Opara, Minna

The Nigeria Police Force, Niger State Command at the weekend honoured the Niger State correspondent of The Punch, Mr. Enyioha Opara, and the Nigerian Television Authority, Minna.

Opara was adjudged the best crime reporter for 2016 while the NTA, Minna was honoured as the best electronic media house in crime reporting for the same period.

The awards were presented at the police headquarters during the inauguration of the new Niger State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Austin Agbonlahor.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, who unveiled the awards, said the awardees had been committed and consistent in the reportage of police activities during the period.

Elkana said though all correspondents had been very diligent in their activities, The Punch and NTA were outstanding.

The outgoing Commissioner of Police, Muazu Zubairu, who presented the awards to the recipients on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, charged them to be more dedicated to their job.

At the ceremony the new police commissioner, Agbonlahor, promised to work closely with the media to achieve a crime-free state.

Umar Sanda Ndalima received the award on behalf of the NTA, Minna.
