Labour's Clare Curran remains defiant following ejection from Parliament's debating chamber.
The Dunedin South MP incurred the wrath of speaker Lockwood Smith for wearing an old Highlanders jersey to Question Time to protest against the team's new green strip .
She insists there is no mention of not wearing rugby jersey's in the dress code for women MPs.
"For goodness sake, this is an overreaction," Curran told the Otago Daily Times.
She said she was wearing the jersey to reflect the reaction of her constituents to the re-branding of the Highlanders.
"I started asking around why they were changing the the uniform and I started to feel quite angry. This has become a significant issue."
Lockwood Smith said it was not suitable attire for the debating chamber.
"The House does have a dress code. If the member is wearing the top of a sports team, I can imagine an occasion where the Speaker's permission might be sought to do that," Smith said.
"But if it is a sports top the member is wearing, I'd ask her to leave the chamber and come back dressed consistently with the standing orders of the House."
Curran said the Highlanders old blue, maroon and gold jersey should be brought back as soon as possible.
