David Cameron leaves eight-year-old daughter at the pub after going out for lunch

Prime Minister David Cameron accidently left his eight-year-old daughter in a pub after going out for lunch.

Worried Nancy was found by staff asking where her mum and dad were.

The PM only realised she was missing when he got back to his country retreat Chequers, a spokeswoman revealed.

The blunder came to light after revelations Mr Cameron enjoyed boozy Sunday lunches while “chillaxing” at the the stately pile.

The Camerons were frantic when they realised that Nancy was missing, according to the No.10 spokeswoman.

“The Prime Minister and Samantha were distraught when they realised Nancy wasn’t with them,” she said. “Thankfully when they phoned the pub she was there safe and well. The PM went down straight away to get her.”

The incident is hugely embarrassing to Mr Cameron, who has gone out of his way to play up his credentials as a family man. The Camerons had driven to The Plough, in Cadsden, Bucks with friends a few weeks ago.

The families got into two cars to return to the PM’s official residence. He thought Nancy was with mum Samantha and their other children, Arthur, six, and Florence, 22 months.

Samantha thought the youngster had got into the car with her dad.

After the two-mile journey back to Chequers, they realised Nancy wasn’t with them and they rushed back to the pub. They found their daughter happily chatting to workers at the 16th century inn.
 
One member of staff said: “You would have thought someone would have counted heads.

“Nancy was found in the loo but it’s not like you can look up the phone book for David Cameron and call saying you left your daughter behind. Thankfully it all ended happily.”

Nancy is the second of the couple’s four children. Their first child Ivan, who was severely disabled, tragically died in 2009.
