Nokia downloads free software for customers
By Emeka Aginam
While many cell phone users, especially in developing countries still under use their mobile phone because of what observers call lack of IT skills and knowledge, global handset manufacturer, Nokia is currently downloading free Ovi by Nokia software applications that enables users enjoy many applications including games, maps, media, messaging and music.
The free Ovi by Nokia download , according to Hi-Tech findings can be enjoyed at every Nokia retail shop, especially Computer Village, Ikeja. Ovi by Nokia is the brand for Nokia’s Internet services. The services can be used from a mobile device, computer through Nokia Ovi Suite or via the web.
Although Nokia on May 16, 2011, announced that the Ovi brand will be discontinued and the services rebranded under the main Nokia brand, it has some significance in that Nokia is moving deeper into the world of internet services, where head-on competition with Microsoft, Google and Apple is inevitable. The transition will begin in July 2011 and Nokia said it intends to complete the rebranding of the Ovi services by the end of 2012. Ovi is the Finnish word for “door.”
Nokia’s aim with Ovi is to include third party developers, such as operators and third-party services like Yahoo’s Flickr photo site. Jut last week in the course of monitoring market activities in the Computer Vilage, Ikeja, many Nokia users were seen at Revive Technologies, Slot and many other Nokia retail outlets doing free downloads assisted by Nokia staff.
“We are doing this free for all our customers. It is part of value added services. The customers are the reason why we are here. We have technical personnel’s in every Nokia retail shop across the country.
With your eBuddy ID, you can sign in with mulitple IM accounts at once and have all your friends in one buddy list. It will also give you access to extra features and content for free” a Nokia Engineer attached to Revive technologies along medical road at the Computer Village told Vanguard Hi-Tech last Saturday in an interaction.
