CWG Ghana showcases MPLS solutions at CISCO forum
By Emeka Aginam
As one of CISCO’s most esteemed partners in West Africa, CWG Ghana the West African regional arm for the Computer Warehouse Group, joined other CISCO senior executives and its customers in Accra to discuss the new trends and solutions coming from the World’s leading technology and Networking Solutions Company.
However, it was the first time CISCO will be hosting such an event in Accra and as expected senior executives from both private and public establishments were all in attendance.
Under the theme ‘Innovate to Accelerate’, CISCO in collaboration with its partners, unleashed to guests at the two day event which had both Ghanian and Nigerian Senior executives in Information technology, solutions that have already been developed by CISCO to drive, improve and accelerate African businesses.
For Computer Warehouse Group, a certified Silver Partner to CISCO, it was an opportunity to showcase CISCO’s Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS).
CWG has led the trail in the deployment of MPLS network solutions which has the capacity to lower the operational costs of organisations by integrating multiple services onto a common backbone. The development of this solution was in response to the wide spread deployment of real time applications such as VOIP and the common use of Virtual Private Networks (VPN).
MPLS has become a standard that has emerged to provide Link Layer Independent Framework for IP. This solution has the capacity to run over ATMs, Frame Relay, Ethernet and Point to Point Packet Mode Links. MPLS has today become the dominant internetworking technology, which has now made it the preferred choice for organisations looking to extend their metro networks.
Over the years, CWG has become that preferred partner to customers as that company has continually evolved, developed and have been driven by innovative technologies such as that from CISCO, which enables customers achieve more with less and have shown through these technologies that costs can be brought down to a considerable extent.
Hence, the deployment of the MPLS solution has been designed to drive down operational costs through data network convergence and the integration of multiple services onto a common backbone.
