Namibia in high spirit for Eagles
By John Egbokhan
Interim Coach of Namibia’s Brave Warriors, Bernhard Kaanjuka expects a spirited performance from his charges against Nigeria in this Sunday’s 2014 World Cup qualifier at the U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar
The Namibians have spent over a week camping in the German town of Kaiserau.
In an interview with The Namibian, Coach Kaanjuka said that the camp has served its purpose and they have thoroughly utilised all the resources available to them.
He said the morale in the camp was sky-high, which he hopes would propel the team to impress against the Nigerians.
“The players’ will to play is very high and the atmosphere of togetherness in the camp is exceptional and we are confident it will be replicated on the pitch in that match”, Kaanjuka said.
Kaanjuka said he was pleased with the commitment and discipline within the squad.
“The senior players are very helpful and the young ones are willing to listen and take advice and that I believe is something that we need in the team.”
He added that they were not going to awed by the past heroics of the Nigerians when both team square up on the pitch in Calabar.
“This is a game for men and past pedigree would not count because we are equal to the task ahead. We are not going to play as boys but as men”, said Kaanjuka.
