Port Harcourt – Six of the seven commissioners’ names sent to the Rivers State House of Assembly by Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s for screening have been approved by the House.  But one of the nominees Dr. Chamberlain Peterside did not turn up for the exercise.

Amongst the six nominees, four were former commissioners, including the Commissioner for Information and Communication Mrs. Ibim Semenitari;  Education,  Dame Alice Lawrence Nemi; Water Resources,  Mrs. Patricia Tamuno Hart; as well as Power,  Mr. Augustine Wokocha.

The fresh nominees are Chief Victor Giadom, who was the immediate past Gokana local government chairman and Rivers state Coordinator of the Jonathan/Sambo campaign organization, and Dr. Nyema Weli Thompson.

Some of the nominees were given the privilege of walking into the Assembly and asked to take a bow because of “their exemplary performance” in other duties such as Giadom who won the best local government chairman award,  as rated by an agency in the state.
