Ondo: Mimiko ‘ll win election, says Nwanyanwu, LP chair

The national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Chief Dan Nwanyawu has predicted a resounding victory for the candidate of the Party, Dr Olusegun Mimiko based on his record of excellent performance in his three and a half years in office as Governor of the State.

Nwayanwu who spoke in Ondo town during the election campaign of Dr Olusegun Mimiko urged the electorate to reject the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) saying that the leadership of the party had nothing to offer the people save to expand their territories. As for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, the LP Chairman said that the party had no chance at all adding that the excellent performance of Dr Mimiko as Governor had placed him above his contenders.

The LP boss who was full of appreciations for the people of Ondo State who declared a holiday for their son, Dr Mimiko by shutting down their markets and shops to give him a rousing welcome regretted the desperation that the opposition parties, especially the ACN had brought into the State body polity.

His words: “They know they will lose this election by a wide margin and a security report just reaching us from Osogbo now indicates that in their desperation to rig this election, they are printing ballot materials in that town. We don’t know how they are going to bring them in but we are waiting for them and a letter will be written to INEC today to alert them of this latest in their bags of tricks.

“Again, the ACNN has budgeted N2.5million for every Ward in Ondo State. But I want you people to be ready to collect their money when they offer you, even if they offer you N5million please collect it and chop their money because it is not their money. But on the day of election on October 20, reject them at the poll by voting for Olusegun Mimiko of the LP.

“Let me tell you frankly that they have nothing to offer you, they have nothing to add to the beautiful work being done in Ondo State by Mimiko other than to pillage and lay waste your treasury. All they are looking for is to increase their territories; they want to corner Ondo State and they have started early with their radio station called Adaba which reels out lies and their paper, the Nation where they lie between their teeth.”

The LP national Chairman also debunked allegations by the ACN leadership that Mimiko promised to join their party adding that it was not only untrue but that they also never gave the Governor any money.

“Mimiko never promised them, it is not true. And as to the other lie that Mimiko collected money from them, this is also a untrue. As the national Chairman of LP, I was on top of events in the party in 2007. I have the register of the party and we have the list of those who gave us small, small financial support to assist us. Even those who gave money directly to Mr Governor, he brought those money for us and we recorded them, their ACN leaders) names were not their. They are lies and they have committed three crimes against their God, the people of Ondo State and even against themselves for this lies.

“Please, reject them at the poll. On October 20, come out and vote for the labour Party, vote for Dr Olusegun Mimiko and ensure you wait until the elections have been counted then go home and rejoice because Ondo State will become better for that decision to allow Mimiko continue the good work he has been doing in the last three and a half years,” Nwayanwu advised
