ACN denies plot to ‘import’ thugs for Ondo guber election
…Calls for Adokie’s removal
Akeredolu Campaign Organisation (ACO) has debunked the allegation by the Labour Party(LP) that ACN is planning to bring Tokyo, the embattled former NURTW chairman of Oyo State to Ondo State to forment trouble, describing it as a product panic and hallucination on the part of the LP.
ACO recalled that it has been raising alarm over the activities of LP since the beginning of the campaign, stressing that the latest attack by LP was on market women for wearing ACN T-shirts in Akure.
“One wonders what the LP takes the Ondo people for, they seem to have soon forgotten the historical antecedent of the people. We are compelled to remind Governor Olusegun Mimko and his amorphous Labour party that the Ondo State people have a character which repels oppression and would not accept intimidation even at the risk of their lives.
“We did not import thugs to win election in Ogun, Oyo, Osun and Edo, We will not need to import thugs or anyone to win in Ondo State. The people are tired of the deception and promotion of token effort being described as mega projects by Mimiko.
“For us at ACO we will want to warn the LP to desist from the unprovoked attacks being unleashed on our members because we will not continue to fold our arms, we shall return fire for fire from now on. We also want to appeal to the police and other security agents to remain neutral”, the group said.
Meanwhile, The Akeredolu Campaign organization has called on the Director General of the State Security Services in Abuja to immediately transfer, Mrs Betty Adokie, the Director, State Security Services(SSS) Ondo Command, who they alleged has become a tool in the hand of Governor Olusegun Mimiko in his campaign effort in Ondo State.
“Mrs Adokie has devised a gimmick of arresting members of the PDP, ACN and LP while cleverly releasing the LP members and holding the PDP and ACN members in detention on spurious charges. It is a notorious fact that she has been settled by Mimiko hence her actions which is unbecoming of an occupant of such a high office in a reputable organization like the SSS.
“We in ACO hold the SSS in high esteem and have great confidence in the agency but Mrs Adokie has become a clog in the wheel capable of drawing the good name of the institution in the mud. We also want to warn that if she continues in office with the same attitude the members of PDP and ACN may have no choice than to result into self help which may not augur well for the peace of the State. Hence this call for her immediate removal.”
