EX-RANGERS of Enugu International Football club players have appealed to the governors of the five South East states to come to the assistance of the family members of the former players many of who have died with their families living in abject penury.

The ex-players, under the aegis of Ex-Rangers Memorial Project, lamented the condition of the families of some of their former colleagues, saying some of them have been ejected from their homes while their children no longer go to school because their school fees could not be paid.

At a press briefing at Umuahia, the group led by its chairman, Mr. Stanley Okoronkwo, also called for the immortalization of the founding fathers of the club, for future generations to keep records and emulate.

Okoronkwo who was flanked at the briefing by Dominic Nwobodo and Nwabueze Nwankwo, also appealed to the governors to assist in immortalizing the founding fathers of the club and named some of them to include Chief Jerry Enyeazu, Dan Anyiam, Tony Nzeribe, Clifford Eneli and Eto Amaechina, among others, saying that their contribution in the development of football in the zone should not be allowed to be in vain.

The group named 25 ex-Rangers players who were dead, saying that family members of most of them live in pathetic condition, hence the call for the assistance of the governors.
