FG to construct 1mn houses annually, says Minister The Federal Government is to construct one million houses annually to meet the 17 million houses required in the country to house citizens.

The Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Ms Amal Pepple, gave the assurance on Monday in Bauchi while inaugurating 288 housing units tagged “Bauchi Unity Estate” constructed by Terraquest Development Company.

Pepple said the effort to build the houses was to provide cheaper and affordable houses as part of the transformation agenda of the Federal Government.

She said that the Federal Government had also embraced a new technology toward building the houses in all states of the federation.

The minister stated that various agencies of the Federal Government, including the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Federal Housing Authority and Federal Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development had embarked on various housing schemes for civil servants.

According to her, the State Governments were also doing good jobs in establishing housing estates towards providing adequate and affordable houses for their citizens. NAN
