By GABRIEL ENOGHOLASEE, Benin
A chieftain of Action Congress of Nigeria ACN, from Edo Central Senatorial Zone Prince Joe Okojie, has attributed the victory of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole in last governorship election in Esan Central local government to the development programmes he embarked upon across the state.

Prince Okojie who spoke to newsmen in Benin yesterday, said even though the area used to be a stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, the people voted for Oshiomhole because they did not want to be left behind of the infrastructure development sweeping across the state.

He said, “even the blind can hear about all these developmental initiatives of Adams Oshiomhole, the deaf can see them, it’s obvious to everybody that Oshiomhole has done well, he has continued to do well and that since he came to power we have seen what we had not seen before in Edo state in terms of development, as a result my people decided to give him their mandate so that all the developmental strides can continue.”

He explained that he has already told Oshiomhole that all the people wanted from him was for him to continue with the good works which he had embarked upon in the state.

“I told Oshiomhole that all I want him to do for our people is to continue to develop the place as he has been doing, we must continue to see the red  roofs in our schools, construction of new roads and maintenance of existing ones, job creation and gainful employment for our youth.”

He also disagreed on the alleged marginalization of Esan Central local government by the governor, saying that, “I disagree with that, I have disagreed in the past and I will continue to disagree. If you go through Uromi for instance or the entire Esan land, you will see Oshiomhole’s footprint”.

“You have to understand the rot we had experienced for over 30 years which Oshiomhole was trying to correct as much as he could within three and half years, so I think it is unfair to Adams for people to expect that he gets it all right within three and half years, given the circumstances, in my opinion I think he has done a good job in Edo state in general.”

While asking the PDP in the state to join hands with Oshiomhole to move the state forward and take it to the next level, he advised Nigerian politicians to always play by the rules and in the true spirit of sportsmanship congratulate the  winner after a free, fair and credible elections.
