SFU arrests woman for alleged N10.8m fraud

LAGOS – Operatives of Special Fraud Unit, Lagos, have arrested one Bunmi Akintoye, alleged to have been involved in serial fraud cases.
Vanguard gathered that the 33-year-old suspect, is currently being investigated on several fraud cases which include the theft of 96 pieces of Hewlett Packard Laptops which she allegedly obtained in June 2011 from an unsuspecting victim. Each laptop cost N105,000, while the total cost N10.8 million.
The source said the suspect allegedly confused the victim into believing her to be a genuine businesswoman by depositing N1.5 million and she also issued a post-dated cheque value at N8.5 million which eventually got bounced on presentation.
