NEDG holds final round of Edo guber Thursday

LAGOS – NIGERIA Elections Debate Group,NEDG, has disclosed that it has prunned the number of parties that would participate in the final round of the Edo State governorship election debate to three, noting that the debate is scheduled to hold  Thursday, July 5.

A statement by NEDG stated that the exercise would take place at Best Western Homeville Hotel, Evbuonwan Street, Benin City.

It also noted that parties expected to participate  include: Action Congress of Nigeria,ACN, All Nigeria Peoples Party,ANPP, and Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP,

The statement further said, “The pre-broadcast rules of the debate are; the three governorship candiadets are expeceted for the debate at 4.30pm.  All invited guests, party members and their supporters are all to be seated by 4.30pm.  Party supporters are expected to exhibit and display the best of conduct as the debate venue is not a campaign rally. Party insignia of any type is not allowed in the venue of the debate.”

While stating the reason why the number of participating parties, were prunned to three, NEDG stated that it commissioned a research to ascertain the level of presence of all the parties in the state.

“During the debates, NEDG commissioned a field research on all participating political parties in the governorship debates . Based on the findings, the number of the parties has been prunned to three for the final round of the debate,”NEDG noted.

It further enjoined party members to ensure that their members  comply with the rules guiding this concluding part of the debate, adding that the success of the election is vital for the polity.
