Six $1 million Powerball tickets bought by one Arizona man
The Arizona Lottery says one man recently won six $1 million Powerball prizes (AP/Mike Fiala)One man from a suburb of Phoenix has defied astounding odds by purchasing six $1 million winning Powerball tickets.
The man, who has asked to remain anonymous, used the same numbers for each ticket, according to Arizona lottery spokeswoman Karen Bach.
Bach says the man picked up his $6 million in winnings over the course of several visits to the Arizona Lottery's headquarters in Phoenix.
Arizona has had an unusually high number of winners of the Powerball $1 million second prize this year. According to KTAR, Arizona ranks second in the nation for second prize, $1 million winners.
It was announced last month that the owner of the gas station where the six tickets were purchased will receive $30,000 in prize money, now that all of the winning tickets have been claimed.
The Arizona Lottery posts testimonials from lottery winners each month. There were more than 50 winners in April taking home at least $10,000 each, including Alex A. Defiore, who took home $6,400,000.
When asked to say what he'd do with his winnings, Defiore told the Arizona Lottery, "This win will allow my wife and I to spend more time together."
