Gunmen kidnap Anambra monarch

Gunmen Friday kidnapped Lawrence Oragwu, 82, the traditional ruler of  Adazi Nnukwu in Anaocha Local Government Area of  Anambra.

The News Agency of Nigeria gathered that the incident happened at Nwagu market in Agulu community at about 12p.m. while the octogenarian was attending an official function.

An eyewitness said the kidnappers laid ambush for the traditional ruler who left his palace in a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).

“ The kidnappers shot into the air to scare people away before whisking Igwe Oragwu away,” he said.
Mr Emeka Chukwuemeka, spokesman of the Anambra Police Command, confirmed the incident, saying six persons were arrested over the incident.
