Student docked over theft of N500 food stuff
Lagos - A hungry student, (names withheld), was docked on Monday at the Ilupeju-Oshodi Magistrates’ Court for stealing food stuff worth N500.
The 21-year old, is standing trial on a two-count charge of felony and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Festus Oseghale, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 31 at about 1 a.m at Ilupeju, Lagos.
Oseghale said that the accused entered the residence of one Mr Yanju Lipede and stole the food items.
“The defendant stole a sachet of noodle, two eggs, one bottle of fruit juice and groundnut oil, all valued at N500,” he said.
He said the offence contravened Sections 412 and 390 (4B) Cap c17 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.M. Ajayi, granted him bail in the sum of N10,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned till June 22 for further hearing. (NAN)
