Woman councillor killed in Maiduguri

MAIDUGURI-TRAGEDY struck last night when some gunmen shot dead a female Councillor Hajja Bayayi and cart away her jewellery in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Bayayi who was until her sudden death the councillor representing Bolori ward 1 was murdered inside her residence in Limanti area of Maiduguri Metropolis on Sunday night.
Commissioner of Police in Borno State , Mr. Bala Hassan confirmed the incident on phone from Maiduguri.
“Yes it happened last night during curfew hours. A woman politician was killed by unknown gunmen. We have commence investigation into the killing”
The Borno Police Chief says the Limanti area of the Metropolis have been cordoned off adding that security patrol has been beefed up in and around the state to safe guard lives and properties.
