Police Nab Suspected Kidnapper, Release 2 kids
WARRI—POLICE in Delta State have set free two kids; Master Udesen Akpere and Master Akposere Akpere, aged four years respectively, who were abducted in Amukolo community in Okpe area of the state, weekend, while the kidnapper was also arrested.
Meanwhile, the son of a Pastor in a new generation church in Delta State, has been arrested by State Security Service, SSS operatives for allegedly masterminding the kidnap of a 10 year old child of a Chevron Nigeria Limited, staff worshiping in the same church.
Vanguard learnt the two children were playing when the kidnapper, who was on a motor cycle, lured them and took them away on Saturday. Villagers, who suspected the motor cyclist, alerted the police in Okpe and a patrol team went on his trail.
He was trailed to Adeje, near Warri and with the assistance of soldiers; he took security agents to Mammy Market in the town, where the two children were recovered.
Delta State Police spokesman, Mr. Charles Muka, who confirmed the arrest of the suspected kidnapper and rescue of the two kids, said the children had been reunited with their different parents. Asked if the suspect wanted to sell the children, Muka said police was yet to establish his real purpose.
In addition to the son of the pastor, also arrested was the son of another pastor from another branch of the same church, who facilitated in transporting the kidnapped child away from the church.
The kidnap took place on June 3, at the church’s premises on Emore Street, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.
The first pastor’s son, allegedly lured the boy out of the church auditorium during service while the other son of another pastor from another branch of the church brought a car that took the boy away.
Delta State Director of State Security Service, Mrs. Florence Ikanone, while parading suspects in Asaba, yesterday, said “The Service arrested the suspects, Elijah Umanu and Amara Ohanuba (children of Pastors) in connection with the kidnap of one Chibuchi Offia, 10 years old on June 3, 2012 at Emore Street, Effurun, Uvwie council.
