NUC Restores JABU’s Licence
VICE-CHANCELLOR of Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State, Prof. Sola Fajana, has said that the university’s swift compliance with the National Universities Commission's (NUC) guidelines on part-time programmes led to the quick restoration of the institution’s operational licence.
NUC had suspended the varsity’s licence through a letter with ref. NUC/ES/259/vol.1/211 on July 6, 2012 for flouting its order on part-time and post-graduate degree programmes.
It had accused JABU authorities of running part-time programmes despite the ban and for also advertising post-graduate degree programmes that were yet to be approved.
But Fajana, at a news conference, explained that NUC’s action was a rude shock because it did not give any notice before suspending the institution’s licence.
