Two women convicted for pouring chilli on another woman's private parts
The two controversial Dangamvura women who recently grabbed headlines after pouring hot chilli into the privates of another woman they accused of snatching their husband were last week found guilty and will perform 210 hours of community service.
Bassie Ruhukwa and Betty Matiya were facing charges of indecent assault. The duo was initially slapped with 8 months imprisonment and two months were suspended on condition that they do not commit a similar offence in the next two years.
The remaining six months were wholly suspended on condition that they perform 210 hours of unpaid work at Rujeko and Sheni primary schools in Dangamvura high-density suburb.
The court heard that on 23 April at 6pm, the duo arrived at Huruyadzo Butchery and confronted Kusena for wreaking their home by snatching their husband, Sinakadzi. Ruhukwa and Matiya are both customarily married to Sinakadzi.
Prosecutor, Mr Walter Saunyama, said they quizzed Kusena about the matter and asked her to confess, but she vehemently denied the allegations. Ruhukwa was the first to get high and allegedly took a hosepipe and assaulted the victim all over the body.
During the scuffle, Matiya joined and dragged Kusena to a cold room in the same butchery and they took turns to thrash her. Kusena, however, maintained her stance that she was not in love with Sinakadzi. The duo was further infuriated and ordered her to remove her clothes, but she resisted.
They forcibly stripped her before Ruhukwa stretched Kusena's left leg while Matiya was holding the right leg. They allegedly POURED HOT CHILLI into her private parts.
"Kusena screamed for help after intense pain, but no one came to rescue her," said Saunyama.
Ruhukwa allegedly needed a light to perfect her mission and eventually went to fetch fuel for the generator since there was no electricity. Matiya was left in the custody of Kusena. Kusena managed to escape and went home half naked, covering herself with a jacket on the bottom half of her body.
She went to her sister, Melody's place for refuge and a report was made to the police, leading to the arrest of the two. A medical examination was conducted.
