The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has been declared the winner of the governorship election.

According to results declared by the Returning Officer for the Imo Governorship Election, Prof. Hilary Edoga, Okorocha polled 336,859 votes followed by Chief Ikedi Ohakim of the Peoples Democratic Party who got 290,490 while Senator Ifeanyi Araraume of the Action Congress of Nigeria clinched 107,068.

By the results released by Edoga, who is the vice-chancellor of Michale Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, Okorocha beat Ohakim, who is the sitting governor of Imo State, by 46,363.

Reacting to the development, APGA National Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh, told journalists that it was the manifestation of the people‘s will, after the party‘s mandate had been denied it in 2003 and 2007.

Jubilation immediately ensued across the state.

On Friday May 6, 2011, the Independent National Electoral Commission held a supplementary governorship election in three local government areas and one ward. It had earlier declared the governorship election held on April 26 inconclusive.

More details later.

I thank the Imo people and God who made it possible for the people's choice met .
I also hereby encourage the Imo youths to always be ready to carry out action on any body including Okorocha if he fail to meet the people's expectation. And again, there is information going around the state that Mr Okorocha belongs to Ogboni,if he know this information is true,he should step down immediately before he face Holy Gost fire.
