The Commissioner for Land, Uche Nwosu, who disclosed this at the weekend while addressing stakeholders in the agriculture sector, said the land was acquired at the Ideato, Orlu zone and other parts of the state. He urged the people to cooperate with the government to realise its agricultural goal. In a related development, Nwosu directed land officials in the state to ensure that only those qualified are issued with certificates of occupancy and not land speculators. The commissioner spoke while inaugurating committee members in charge of the task. He said the geographical survey office in the state is to ensure that genuine private landowners are issued with certificates and documented appropriately, adding that bottlenecks had been removed in carrying out the task of documentation. Responding, the committee chairman, Prof. Udoka Anozie, promised that the committee members would discharge their duties as assigned.
