Helen Anyamelune, Former Miss Nigeria Is Dead

Aged 75, Anyamelune who reigned as Miss Nigeria in 1958, died in her village, Ugbodu in Aniocha Local Government area  of Delta State after a protracted illness.

Her first son Obiora Nwoka confirmed the death of the beauty queen, saying that she died on 28 July, 2012.

Nwoka told P.M.NEWS that the former beauty queen will be buried in October 2012, but before the burial, a service of song will be held for her in Lagos, southwest Nigeria.  “But the family is yet to decide the exact burial date,” he added.

Helen Anyamelune from the then Mid Western region was the second Miss Nigeria to be crowned after Grace Oyelude from the Western Region.

The deceased is survived by two sons and a daughter.
