The Ondo state Command of the Nigerian Police Force has confirmed the arrest of four suspects alleged to have attacked the convoy of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Candidate in Ondo State, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN).

The suspected thugs reportedly attacked Akeredolu's convoy in Ifon, Ose local government area of the state.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the suspects alleged to be supporters of the ruling Labour Party (LP) in the state were arrested by the members of the ACN who subsequently handed them over to the police.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Adeniran Aremu, confirmed to our correspondent that some suspected hoodlums were arrested by ACN and handed over to the police in Ifon.

He said the suspects were later moved from Ifon to the Area Command Office in Owo Local Government for further investigation.

Aremu said he could not confirm whether the people arrested were supporters of any political party until investigations on the matter is concluded.

Meanwhile the Akeredolu Campaign Organization has appealed to the security agencies to curtail the violent activities presently witnessed in the State.

The Organisation condemned in strong terms the attack on the convoy of Akeredolu at Okeluse during the campaign tour of Ose local government.

According to the spokesman of the Organisation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, "It has become a stock in trade for the Labour Party to unleash violence on the opposition parties in the State, during rallies and meetings.

This is a very bad omen and a clear indication that the party is jittery in the face of inevitable loss in the forthcoming elections".
