Nigeria: Governors Shema, Yakowa, Shettima, Wada, Others Call for Prayers

Lokoja, Maiduguri, Kaduna, Benin, Illorin — As Nigerian Muslims join their counterparts the world over to mark Eid-el-Fitr today, Governor Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State has urged them to continue with the good virtues they displayed during the outgoing month of Ramadan.

Governor Shema, who was delivering Sallah message to the Muslim umma in a statement released yesterday by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Relaltions Sani Shuiabu, also urged Muslims to emulate the holy Prophet (SAW) "of showing love to the needy, supporting peaceful coexistence at all time and all levels."

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State in a Sallah message issued by his Special Adviser on Communications, Isa Umar Gusau, called on Nigerians to sustain prayers for the restoration of peace in the state and other parts of Nigeria.

Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa of Kaduna State in a Sallah message signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Reuben Buhari expressed gratitude to all Muslim Ummah for the prayers offered for the peace and progress of Nigeria in general and Kaduna State in particular during the fasting period.

Also, Governor Adams Oshiomhole has urged Muslims to abide by Allah's injunction in all they do.

In his Eid-el-Fitri message by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Peter Okhiria, the Governor said: "Having observed strictly the injunctions of Almighty Allah by self-denial through fasting and prayers and by offering Zakkat to the less-privileged; and as we continue in the glorification of Allah, we should not forget His words in the Holy Quran 3:134 that 'God loves the doers of good."

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmad in a sallah message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulwahab Oba, said if Nigerians demonstrate the kind of compassion and love for one another as exemplified during the holy month of Ramadan, Nigeria will surmount its numerous challenges.

Also, State Governor, Idris Wada in his sallah message called for mutual trust among the people of different religious, saying it is an atmosphere of religious tolerance that peaceful coexistence can be achieved.
